Burns of Sioux Falls, recently elected state representative, said today he would support a proposed motor vehicle drivers' license act at the next state legislative session. Elected to the house of representatives as a republican, Burns explained that enactment of the uniform motor vehicle operators license act, as recommended by the National Conference on Street and Highway Safety, would give South Dakota all the es-sentiol provisions of the uniform motor ehicle code. Other parts of the code, which was drafted under supervision of the department of commerce, include the registration act, anti-theft act, and uniform motor vehicle act. These three parts have been Incorporated into South Dakota laws. "The main purpose of the drivers' license act," Burns said, "is to reduce accidents by keeping incompetent and reckless drivers off the highways.

Under this law all drivers of motor vehicles would be required to procure a license. Such license for proper cause might be recinded or suspended for disciplinary purposes. "Experience in eleven states which have passed a similar measure has demonstrated that there are fewer accidents and fewer fatalities with such law in operation." Burns, a Sioux Falls attorney, said he had no definite plans for presenting individual bills, believing that proposed measures should be given thorough consideration by the proper committee before introduction. 1 v. 1 1 framing business of G.
